Project Description & Objectives
TrustifAI is a feasibility study funded under the German ZIM (Central Innovation Programme for SMEs) programme, exploring the technical, user-centered, and economic feasibility of a new approach to strengthening trust in e-commerce. The study investigates how machine learning, explainable AI (XAI), and human perception could be combined to assess the trustworthiness of online shops and product reviews through transparent trust indicators. Its focus is on evaluating key assumptions, requirements, risks, and market relevance before any subsequent R&D project is considered.
Importantly, TrustifAI is a feasibility study and is not aimed at developing or delivering a market-ready tool, platform, or service. Instead, it examines whether the underlying concepts and technologies are technically viable, useful to consumers and retailers, and economically sustainable. The findings are intended to provide an evidence-based foundation for deciding whether and how a future R&D project could proceed, where the actual development and validation of a TrustifAI platform could take place.
